Here’s Taylor Swift covering Earth, Wind & Fire’s ‘September’

Taylor Swift has shared her cover of Earth, Wind and Fire’s ‘September’, and it’s a world away from the upbeat fun of the seminal disco classic.

Instead, Swift offers a stripped back acoustic take on the track – with her voice backed by banjos that add an unexpected bluegrass direction to the song.

Swift’s cover was recorded at Nashville’s Tracking Room Studios, and comes as part of her newly released ‘Spotify Singles’ series.

The series has also seen her release an acoustic version of ‘Delicate’ from 2017 album ‘Reputation’.

You can listen to both tracks in full below.

Swift’s Spotify release comes after she was persuaded to return to the streaming service by Spotify boss Daniel Ek, having previously removed all her music from it.

“I should’ve done a much better job communicating this, so I take full ownership for that,” Ek said.

“I went to Nashville many, many times to talk to [Swift’s] team, spent more time explaining the model, why streaming mattered. And the great news is I think she saw how streaming was growing.”

“I think she saw the fans were asking for it. So eventually when the new album came out, she came to Stockholm and spent some time there, figuring out a way that made sense for her”, he added.
